He’s back! After last Autumn’s successful pop-up show at Galleri Schaeffers Gate 5, Carl Smith returns to Oslo with a new suitcase full of art, as well as with an old but updated suitcase full of sounds… Known over the years for performing electronic music out of a suitcase as the solo entertainer known as CASA ELECTRO NOVO, (which included supporting Madrugada on their 2004 European “Grit” tour,) THAT suitcase, the one full of music, will be back with a vengeance!
The New Yorker turned Berliner will be doing a two day pop-up art show at Galleri Schaeffers Gate 5 featuring his limited edition prints on paper as well as his one-of-a-kind paintings on wood made using a mixture of silkscreen printing and painting and then lacquered with epoxy resin.
Smith describes his work as ‘street art meets fine art’ and this motto is not just reflected in the modern Urban Art aesthetic of the art, but also in their ‘affordable’ prices. Limited edition prints for as low as 200kr.
Music will not however be completely left out of Smith’s return to Oslo as he will also perform a set of new and old CASA ELECTRO NOVO tracks as part of Saturday’s party program.
