NEWS: APRIL 2024
WE’RE STILL BUZZING!
Schaeffers Gate 5 was featured as part of “Norway’s buzzing art scene” in the April 2023 issue of the international publication SCAN MAGAZINE!
SCHAEFFERS GATE 5 is in our 13th year as an international art gallery & cultural space.
We are very pleased to announce exciting new art exhibitions, live music and other cultural events since the grand post-pandemic reopening of our renovated cultural space back in August, 2021, featuring SCHÄFFERS, a new sound & image stage for intimate live music, film screenings, performance and more.
Feel free to sign up for our newsletter to receive periodic updates regarding art exhibitions, concerts and other scheduled events. We also have a brand new channel on YouTube where we will be posting videos from our events and other related art videos, so please follow us there as well as on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates and photos.

GALLERY OBJECTIVES
The gallery is looking to show artists who have their own unique vision, and present their artistic world, a world that represents the now, the past and the future. Sometimes it is romantic and often ironic and cynical.

HISTORY
Schaeffers Gate, literally meaning “Schaeffer’s Street,” was originally (and coincidentally) named after Henrik Ernst Schäffer (1794-1865), a Norwegian teacher and customs official who established a grant to support youth who wanted to become artists, “where the interest should be distributed to young people, who have the desire and talent in the Arts (painting, sculpture and poetry) but who lack the financial means to begin and continue their studies.”
Schaeffers Gate 5 was first established as an art space during Oslo Open in September 2011.
